SIMONE FELICE WITH JESS RIBEIRO 2013

SIMONE FELICE 2013.jpeg

It’s been one hell of a ride for Catskill Mountains-bred singer-songwriter Simone Felice since he left the countrified confines of his blood-tied outfit The Felice Brothers back in 2009 to follow his own muse.

After delivering two soulful albums with his band The Duke & The King he went truly solo, releasing the eponymous Simone Felice in 2012 to wide acclaim. In between all of this artistic endeavour he battled serious health issues (surviving emergency open heart surgery) and the myriad travails of first-time fatherhood, but immersing himself in his art helped him take it all in his stride. And while he’s proved to be a dab hand in the studio – or the chicken coop, or the church, or the abandoned school building, wherever he decides to put his heartfelt songs to tape – it’s in the live realm that Felice has really learned to take no prisoners, his passionate and authentic onstage delivery delighting all and sundry on his two previous Australian visits.

This Easter Felice is returning to our shores for the seventh installment of the raucous Boogie Festival in central Victoria, and while here he’s going to share his soulful charms with the rest of the country. He’s aptly headlining both city and country shows of his own, and as a special treat he’s bringing young Northern Territorian Jess Ribeiro along for the ride.

Ribeiro has been peddling her dusty, distinctive vision both on her own and with her band The Bone Collectors for a few years now, her talent and hard work rewarded by her making the 2012 shortlist for the acclaimed Australian Music Prize and winning Radio Nationals ‘Album Of The Tear’ with her debut album My Little River.

Two unique singer-songwriters – one from home, one from abroad – sharing their journeys in song in what promises to be a unique and uplifting night of homespun music.

Don’t miss Simone Felice and Jess Ribeiro when they hit venues near you this March and April, proudly brought to you by Love Police Touring.
