LINDI ORTEGA WITH THE CACTUS BLOSSOMS 2016

Out In The Weekend and Love Police Touring is pleased to announce headline shows for Lindi Ortega and The Cactus Blossoms, who will also play the already announced Americana festival Out On The Weekend on October 15 in Melbourne.

This dynamic duo of Lindi Ortega and The Cactus Blossoms will perform at Newtown Social Club, in Sydney on October 17, Northcote Social Club in Melbourne on October 19 & Meeniyan Town Hall on October 21.

Tickets for all shows will go on sale September 1.

Canadian songstress Lindi Ortega, described by The Guardian as “southern Americana with emotional heft,” makes a welcome and overdue return to Australia and Out On the Weekend having last played shows here in 2014. That year she left audiences wanting more and 2016 will be no different. In 2015 she released her 4th album Faded Gloryville to glowing reviews with The Music stating “She wraps country and soul music in warm and familiar fashion” and describing her as having “A timeless sound with songs to match.”

The Cactus Blossoms, who are making their first trip to Australia, will bring their harmonies and timeless style with them. Made up of brothers Page Burkum & Jack Torrey (yes they are indeed brothers), their debut album ‘You’re Dreaming’ was released in 2015 with much fanfare and praise with American Songwriter Magazine stating “It won’t take more than one spin for these songs, with their lovely, pure melodies and sharp wordplay, to get stuck in your brain.” Comparisons have been made to The Everly Brothers (not a bad thing) but as NPR suggested there is much more to them and that “the duo’s gorgeous harmonies and ageless sound spell out just the beginning for these brothers.” And they’d be right.
