ROBERT ELLIS & CORY CHISEL 2013

It takes a unique, somewhat special artist to walk in front of an unknown audience and in no time have them in the palm of his hand.

Enter Robert Ellis who did exactly that when he first landed on our shores some seven months ago while as support to Justin Townes Earle. His music and generosity on stage flowed through each audience like a cool summer breeze at beer o’clock. It was infectious and every single person who saw his first Australian tour knew they had seen some thing remarkably special.

So it is no surprise that this Houston bred, Nashville based singer songwriter will return to Australia in November for another round of East Coast shows to again showcase the stunning album Photographs and songs from his yet to be titled sophomore album.

Joining Robert Ellis for the ride as co-headliner will be Cory Chisel. Make no mistake about it, Cory Chisel is an old believer. You can hear it in his music there’s a wisdom beyond his years in that voice and you can hear it on the bands second album, Old Believer, which was recorded in Nashville and produced by a great singer songwriter in his own right, Brendan Benson (The Raconteurs). As fate would have it, the kid was born to do it. Along with the family’s spiritual doctrine came a musician uncle, who taught Cory about the blues: Howlin Wolf, Robert Johnson, Sony Boy Williamson. Cory was recently in the country as special guest of Norah Jones, playing nationwide to rave reviews.

Supporting will be Marlon Williams who has built quite a following since moving to Melbourne from his native New Zealand in July. In two months, the 22-year old NZ Music Award winner he has played over 35 shows, supporting Sweet Jean’s national tour, Aussie legend Renee Geyer, playing Leaps & Bounds Music Festival, and singing backing vocals for 7 time ARIA Award winner David Bridie. Opening in Newcastle will be local songstress De’May.

This November catch a spectacular double bill of ROBERT ELLIS & CORY CHISEL, both with musical accompaniment. This is seriously real music that is not to be missed!

With special guest Marlon Williams
