Sierra Ferrell's 'Long Time Coming'

Hey gang,

A shout out to our Melbourne pals struggling (hopefully not) through Lockdown 4. Let’s try to take you away from that for a moment with a little story…..

Around 6 years at Americana Fest in Nashville, a UK record label owner, a Nashville hustler and myself got bundled into a shit box of a car and drove around to listen to a homemade cd by an Artist. We all freaked out. It was like Karen Dalton, Joni Mitchell and everything that was great. We all decided to work on the act and help her get a career in place. World domination was imminent. Just one problem, no one knew what her name was. Like some great ideas, this one needed some air. We all slowly forgot about her and got on with our busy lives.

In 2018 I thought it would be a treat to bring out an unknown act from Nashville for the Out On The Weekend party. I dug around, listened to bunch of people, and settled on SIERRA FERRELL. At that stage there wasn’t a lot of content of her’s online, a few busking videos from New Orleans, but not much else. I did see her name checked by Tyler Mahan Coe of COCAINE & RHINESTONES fame, and thought was a good enough endorsement. Even my deep Nashville pals hadn’t really heard of her.

So she show’s up, plays her first set on the ferry to Out On The Weekend, and low an behold, it was her! The mystery girl from the unnamed cd from years earlier. The musical Gods work in mysterious ways. Sierra only played Melbourne on that first trip, but people loved here. So much so we brought her back in 2019 for the festival and she also toured a few other cities. She probably would have been her two times more had a certain pandemic not hit!

Well the good news is she has finally been discovered by the record labels of the planet and she has her debut album, funkily enough called “Long Time Coming” on August 20 this year we’ve heard it, it’s excellent. As No Depression says "Once you've heard her songs...there is no way you will forget her. She's a once-in-a-decade talent." She was joined in the studio by a remarkable array of guest musicians including Billy Strings, Sarah Jarosz, Dennis Crouch, Jerry Douglas, Tim O'Brien, Chris Scruggs, and Rory Hoffman, who added entirely new texture to each of her gracefully crafted and undeniably heartfelt songs.

The good folks at Rounder Records have asked us to be the official store for down here. You can pre order the album now right HERE.
