A band that formed by accident, Shannon and The Clams sprung out of the art school and warehouse music scenes and sprawling creative underground of Oakland, California. It was only meant to be a temporary thing, but now, ten years later, Shannon and the Clams are releasing their fifth album, Onion, this time collaborating with producer Dan Auerbach on his label Easy Eye Sound. On the album you can hear the band progressing from straight 60s-inspired rock and exploring their taste for psychedelic, dramatic throwback pop. They’re set to make Sydney swoon at Oxford Arts Factory on March 7 and Melbourne melt at the Gasometer on March 8 before shakin’ their way down to the ‘Sup for a spot at Golden Plains Festival and then doo-wopin’ down to the apple isle for A Festival Called Panama.
